Wood Science Success - IOM3 Training Academy

The Wood Technology Society

We are pleased to report that Heather Olley was a recent success from the Institute’s Training Academy.

She studied the well established and popular PIABC Level 3 Certificate in “Wood and its Application,” a course endorsed by the Wood Technology Society.

Heather, is a new generation director of the long established family timber importer and merchant E E Olley.  By definition, this means dealing with suppliers (often primary producers), and selling to the market, perhaps with some adding of value by Olley.  Thus, the knowledge obtained from the on-line course is extremely fruitful.

Dr Morwenna Spear, Vice Chair of the Wood Technology Society comments, “as a result of successfully completing the course, Heather has now gained the professional recognition TIMMM, which is an important step on the ladder. I wholeheartedly congratulate her, and hope that Heather can progress onwards within the Institute over coming years. We are keen on recognising and increasing visibility of professional memberships of the IOM3 within the wood industries, and are pleased that courses such as the Wood and its Application Certificate can lead into membership. I wish Heather every success with her career, and look forward to her continued involvement with IOM3 and the Wood Technology Society.”

Heather was interviewed for the Institute’s Materials World magazine. The article appears in the September 2020 issue.
