Extract from Design Intro:
It is very important to design parts which will be vitreous enamelled with the nature of the process in mind.
At all stages it is important to minimise stresses which may occur during firing. Parts will be heated to about 800 degrees Celsius and then cooled after each firing. This may be repeated several times.
Vitreous enamel is a glass - strong in compression but weak in tension. This is a key consideration in designing parts to be enamelled and a major controlling factor.
The following downloads give some examples of good and bad design practice which we hope you will find useful.
