What is a Technician?
The Technician grade TIMMM is recognition from the Institute of an individual's professional ability to apply proven techniques and procedures to the solution of problems in the field of materials and natural resources in one or more of the following: exploration, extraction, processing, forming, selection, application, development, research, manufacturing, reuse, repurposing and recycling.
Suitable applicants for this grade:
- hold the minimum of a RQF Level 2/SCQF Level 5 qualification, in a relevant engineering, science, technology or environmental subject
- have at least 2 years relevant working experience
Individuals looking to attain either associate or professional membership AIMMM/MIMMM in the fullness of time, are welcome to apply for TIMMM as an interim level of recognition.

If you are already a member:
- a copy of your CV/resume
- a copy of your qualification(s) certificate(s), unless these have previously been submitted to the Institute
If you are not already a member you will also have to submit a completed Professional Membership form.
Application for Competent Person Registration
Those seeking to apply for professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), must hold the membership grade of TIMMM or AIMMM or MIMMM or FIMMM at the time of application and the minimum of a Level 3 qualification such as a OND in an appropriate subject.
