Cynthia Adu

Cynthia is a sustainability consultant at Carbon Smart. She completed her EngD in sustainable materials and manufacturing at Cranfield university sponsored by the EPSRC. She has a background in mechanical engineering and an MSc in Engineering and Management of manufacturing systems from Cranfield University. Cynthia adopted a keen interest in applying sustainability within the engineering and manufacturing context which has led to conducting research projects within various industries from housing and construction, electronic waste recycling, consumer goods and now the pulp and paper industry. Her doctorate was focused on businesses transition towards a circular economy, working with paper mills to convert their by-products into materials for other industries. Cynthia is enthusiastic about creating an environment of community within a professional institution, thus she is the newsletter editor and representative of the sustainability cohort which covers a diverse group of over 100 researchers and practitioners in industrial sustainability.
