Introduction to Materials

Course description

This course will provide you with an introduction to the world of materials science and engineering.  It will highlight why it is important that we understand how the properties of a material are affected by how we process it and how we have developed materials with some extraordinary properties.  The course is a balance of lecture-style delivery and practical work with lots of examples to bring the subject to life and help you to see materials in context.

Who is the course Aimed at?

This course is suitable for those working in non-technical roles or those only just embarking on a technical role in materials/manufacturing companies.

What are the Course requirements?

No prior learning is necessary we simply require learners to come along with an open mind and a willingness to participate.

What is the course structure?

This is a one day course delivered at the Institute’s offices in Grantham.  It is also possible for us to deliver the course at your place of work, please get in touch to discuss this option.  It is mixture of presentations, small group discussions and practical work and learners will receive a pack of appropriate support material.

All learners will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the day.

The cost of the course is £400 per delegate.  Discounts for IOM3 members and group bookings are available.  The course may also be delivered on-site, please enquire for more detail about this.
