The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called to Sellafield, UK, following identification of an organic peroxide chemical package at the site. The team has safely and successfully disposed of the package.

The chemical had been stored in the Magnox Reprocessing Plant as part of a programme to identify and dispose of historic chemicals on site. During a routine investigation it was noted that the chemical had changed state.

The chemical is used for a variety of purposes across many industries and the risk it presented was a conventional safety issue rather than a nuclear safety risk.
